The Breakfast Club
Since The Breakfast Club just celebrated its 30th anniversary, it seemed like a good excuse to take another look at this seminal film. We all enjoyed it as kids, continued to appreciate it as we got older, and were anxious to discuss why it remains so relevant when so many other movies from this era feel unbelievably dated.
Topics include: the opening David Bowie quote and how it sort of sums up John Hughes' approach to telling stories about teenagers, the original plan to check in on these characters every ten years or so and why that never came to pass, alternate casting choices, Chris' one issue with Principal Vernon, a surprisingly spirited debate about what happens after Andy smokes pot, the incredible "group therapy" scene, the pros and cons of Allison's makeover, and much much more!
